The Organization of Consumers and Users (OCU) is conducting a study to verify the garment safety Children's brands such as H&M, Benetton, Lilica Ripilica, Mothercare, Alcampo, Real Madrid, Chicco, Du Pareil, Prenatal, Beaver Disney, Zara, Sfera and Carrefour.

The results of this analysis, which will be published in the month of April, produce worrying findings, so the OCU has made a statement today to advetir to consumers. In four of the 14 pajamas for children 12 months to three years of age who have been analyzed, they have been found substances listed as potentially dangerous. These chemicals include phthalates, formaldehyde, dangerous dyes, benzene and heavy metals, substances that, when in contact with the skin, can cause irritation, or allergies when inhaled. They could also be toxic when coming into contact with saliva, when sucking clothes like babies do many times.

According to the OCU, there is currently no legislation on the use of such products in clothing, nor rigorous controls. Therefore, this organization has drawn attention to the need to create legislation for the regulation of quality controls and safety in clothing, especially in imported garments.

As a recommendation, the OCU advises users to wash clothes as soon as they buy it, before using it for the first time, it is better to wear cotton clothes and pay attention to the labels. European labels and Öko-test do control the presence of toxins in tissues, the statement concludes.
