"The forgotten voices", a new book on gestational losses

Losing a pregnancy is a painful experience that many women, their partners and their families have to address at some point in their lives. There is more and more information about perinatal deaths, but it seems that when the pregnancy was in its first months, the pain that it entails and the psychic and physical process that the woman is experiencing is still not understood. "The forgotten voices", recently edited by Ob Stare, wants to fill that void.

This book covers the entire experience of the loss of a baby in the first weeks of gestation and also wants to give voice to those babies who only lived in the womb and to those mothers who found that their need for mourning was denied.

It is a beautiful book, emotional but also written with scientific and clear information that I think will be of great use to women, their environment and for health professionals.

The authors are M.Àngels Claramunt, doula and lactation consultant, psychologists Monica Alvarez and Cristina Silvente Y Laura G. Carrascosa, Doctor in Biochemistry and research expert in the area of genetics applied to nanomedicine.

Its authors, four women with great experience in the grieving for gestational losses and in the emotional care of mothers, they have been actively working on these issues for many years, in addition to being present at the forum Overcoming an abortion, which has helped thousands of mothers in this process.

In Babies and more you can read an interview, published in two parts, which we already did to the psychologist Mónica Álvarez last year, when we thoroughly treated natural abortions. You can also find our review of another work by Monica and M. Angels, "The empty cradle" that they wrote a few years ago with Dr. Emilio Santos and psychologist Rosa Jové.

The book "The forgotten voices, early gestational losses", which I have read in two days, completely absorbed, is really recommended. It is so much that counts, the way in which it removes us, that soon I will interview one of the authors so that we talked more about him.
