The photo of a homeless boy doing homework in the light of a McDonald's becomes inspiration for thousands of people

We had not seen an image that conveyed so much. He had no intention of doing it, he is not posing or doing it so that no one praises him or acknowledges his effort, but without wanting to, indirectly, he has become inspiration for thousands of people.

It is a child on a handmade wooden table, sitting on his legs, concentrated doing homework at night, taking advantage of the light of a McDonald's, fighting for his future. What seems like an anecdotal moment, which will surely be your day to day, is being shared by a lot of people for everything that is seen in the photo.

The story behind the photo

The photo was taken in the Philippine city of Cebu by Joyce Torrefranca, a medical student. Apparently he crossed paths with the boy and as it seemed such an inspiring scene he decided to share it:

The boy's name is Daniel Cabrera, he is 9 years old, homeless and has become an example for all the people who are studying and for all those who struggle to achieve their goals, because their image soon began to be shared on social networks.

Following the photo, the television network ABS-CBN News found the boy and discovered that his father died when his house was destroyed by a fire. One of his brothers is sick and he studies every night on the sidewalk of McDonald's, near another restaurant where his mother works.

The logical stir of the moment has made the city welfare office has been launched to offer help to the Cabrera family.

An inspiration for our children

It is clear that the image and history inspire us to adults, but I think that those who really have to see it are the children. In a world where most easily get what they want, it is worth knowing other realities such as this child's, which could well blame the life he has, the circumstances and give up.

His mother works at that time in a nearby restaurant to move her family forward, so I'm sure she has talked to Daniel on more than one occasion so she won't leave school and may have the opportunity for your life to take a turn at some point.

This is what children who do their homework every day, sitting comfortably in a chair, and also those who do not do because they prefer to play or do other things. Mind you, I am very critical of homework and an eternal defender of the game as a means of learning ... let's not focus on the subject in homework yes, homework no. What needs to be revealed, what children should see in the photo is the child's determination, motivation, struggle and their desire to achieve a dream, whatever it is, studying in very hard conditions.
