The importance of medical consultation before pregnancy

As soon as we know that we are pregnant, we are running to the gynecologist's office. Well, that depends on when you can serve us.

That first visit may be too late to prevent some kind of problem in the baby that is being formed.

According to an article published in The New York Times, women's first prenatal visit is around the 10th or 12th week of pregnancy, when there is no time to prepare the body to house a healthy baby.

At that point the possible defects of the fetus are already irreversible.

That's why doctors remember the importance of the gynecological visit before conception and care, especially of the mother, before becoming pregnant.

Diseases such as diabetes, obesity, AIDS or other chronic diseases can be very risky and even fatal for the baby.

If the mother takes any medication that can be detrimental to the development of the baby, or on the contrary if she needs any vitamin or some essential supplement such as folic acid to conceive a healthy baby.

The mother's age, her mental condition, as well as her lifestyle are all factors that the doctor should evaluate before becoming pregnant.

The recommended time to make a pre-conception visit is about three months before you start looking for pregnancy.
