New call from WHO to develop drugs for children

Yesterday launched the WHO (World Health Organization) a new campaign with which it intends to strengthen and promote research in the area of children's medicine. This year has been marked by initiatives in this area, remember the new law that forced pharmacists to research and develop specific drugs for children or the initiatives of other researchers who have been able to verify that adult medications do not act in the same way in Children being sometimes even harmful.

In a nutshell, it is now WHO that again asks pharmaceutical companies and researchers in general to try to develop specific drugs for children, the reason is simple, millions of children die from the lack of specific medications for them. Today, hundreds of diseases are still being treated in children with medications that have not even been tested or the effects that they can cause on children are known, the tests that have been done with adults have been enough to give a white card to their use .

WHO indicates that many clinics do not know the correct doses to be given to children, since there are no specific guidelines for this. This problem is suffered in developed countries, but those who suffer the most are underdeveloped countries that, in addition to facing this problem, must face the lack of economic means that would save the lives of children suffering from diseases that are perfectly treatable in children. developed countries.

Medications should be a priority issue and the economic factor should not be in any case a stumbling block to save a child and more when it comes to those diseases that can be perfectly cured. We hope that laboratories, pharmacists and researchers become aware of the situation and contribute their grain of sand.
