A new study on autism and vaccination

A study conducted in the United States has been published in the journal PLoS ONE that affirms the absence of a link between autism and the combined measles, rubella and mumps vaccine.

The study has been carried out by the Columbia University. Their stated motive has been to try to clear doubts about the relationship between autism and the triple-viral vaccine, which are making it increasingly common for families to decide not to give children this vaccine. This situation worried the health authorities Americans who have been those who have promoted the study. Basically it has consisted of performing biopsies on the samples collected in children of about five years. Thirteen of the children had gastrointestinal problems and another 25 who also had symptoms of autism, to verify the existence of measles antibodies. The results consider that they have indicated that there was no relationship between vaccination and these problems in the cases studied because the samples did not present antibodies significantly.

However, in this, as in other issues that affect the health of children, families want any doubt to be cleared with absolute certainty and there are some who consider it necessary to know more. Surely this issue will continue to give news.
