The specialty of Gynecology and Obstetrics of the University Hospital La Paz (Madrid) is the best valued, maintaining its position with respect to ranking 2017. In addition, this hospital as a whole is also at the head of the most reputed hospitals in the country.

In second place is the Hospital Clínic de Barcelona, ​​also maintaining its position with respect to the previous year, and being the second highest-rated public hospital as a whole.

In third place is for the Vall D'Hebrón Hospital in Barcelona, ​​which this year has won a position regarding the 2017 ranking, advancing to the Hospital October 12 in Madrid, which has dropped from third to fourth place.

How was the ranking done?

The Merco reference monitor has been responsible for preparing this report, which does not have financing or sponsorship of any public or private entity, and that has been carried out since 2014.

To do this, Merco uses a methodology that combine public perception (groups of doctors, nurses, health informants, managers and managers of hospitals and laboratories, and patient associations), with the reality of the sector.

As support and guidance for this research project, Merco has had an advisory board formed by representatives of the General Council of Physicians and the General Council of Nursing, patient associations, journalists and health communicators, as well as people of recognized prestige and experience in Spanish health.

In total, 7,936 evaluations and analysis of services have been carried out, which have been carried out with rigor, transparency and total independence, as indicated in the report.
