"Maternities", sample of photos of Bru Rovira

Until February 28, 2010, we can enjoy in the CaixaForum Madrid of the shows "Maternity" of the Catalan journalist and photographer Bru Rovira, who toured the world in search of snapshots about the deep and universal feeling of motherhood.

The sample is composed of 16 photographs taken in various countries such as India, Senegal, Spain, Brazil, Guatemala, Rwanda or Serbia in which motherhood is exalted as a bond of union in which love and beauty prevails despite despite of adversities such as violence, marginalization, poverty or disease.

The photographs seem to have a special magnetism, those that when observed cause strong sensations. The look of love that emerges from a mother towards a child is, according to the artist's words, "a small point of light, a flash of hope."

The photo with which you open the sample "Maternity" It is that of a Senegalese teenager who kisses her newborn daughter on the mouth to whom she has just given birth alone.

Thus, all the snapshots summarize the purest and most wonderful relationship that can exist between two human beings, that of motherhood. As Rovira expresses in his book Maternities, "The mother-child relationship belongs to this immaterial, private and intimate universe capable of surviving any situation, no matter how bad things get.".

Highly recommended. I will try not to miss it.
