Today, we have news on the blog again, and after the premiere of the new comment system along with the possibility of accessing our publication through your Facebook account comes a new improvement.
It is a improved version of the user karma system, with which we intend to recognize the good contributions of users to the blog, both in the quality of these contributions, and in the level of activity and commitment of users with the publication.
The idea is to reward the most committed and active users, whose contributions provide quality to the blog and its content, value the interaction with the blog and achieve a clean and transparent system, which is also robust against the more "destructive" users.
Thus, to calculate the new karma will be taken into account until 11 different factors, divided into three categories that, each with a relative weight, will become the user karma:
The key factors when calculating a user's karma are the votes to user comments, the number of users who have added it as an expert or participation in blog comments and then the rest of the factors equally.
A karma that you can consult from now on in 2 ways: on the one hand, through the stars as we have done so far; and on the other, through a new numerical value between 1 and 100 corresponding, which will be displayed on your user page.
The equivalence between stars and karma points will be as follows:
- 1 star -> from 0 to 20 points
- 2 stars -> from 21 to 40 points
- 3 stars -> from 41 to 60 points
- 4 stars -> from 61 to 80 points
- 5 stars -> 81 to 100 points
Finally, if you have good karma, don't worry, since the transition will not mean the loss of any user's karma to start over, it will simply be updated to the new system.
