What we have always known about free play in childhood, confirmed by a study

One of the greatest treasures that childhood has is free play. The child has the ability to explore, learn and develop motivated by their own curiosity and concerns, without being guided by an adult.

The benefits of free play are numerous. Among them, it has been known that people who had free time to play in an unstructured way of children, become adults with greater self-esteem and adaptability.

A team of psychologists from the University of Hildesheim, Germany, conducted a survey of 134 people, who were asked about certain experiences about their childhood, as well as circumstances of their social life as adults.

In addition, additional tests measured their ability to be flexible in the face of life's setbacks, and their general level of self-esteem.

The researchers found a significant positive correlation between Having had enough time to play freely in childhood and adult social success.

They observed that the people who had free time to play as children were people more flexible and adaptable to the circumstances.

In the times we live in, it seems unthinkable to do something that is not scheduled, especially when it comes to children, that we consider them a kind of robots that should do what adults say, when and how we believe it.

Let our children free time, let them play freely, experiencing for themselves the adventure of learning.
