Listening with your heart, Post Traumatic Post Traumatic Emotional Stress Support Network

Listening with the heart is the new State Network of Emotional Support for Post Traumatic Post Traumatic Stress, a project that arises with the objective of providing telephone support to those women who, after giving birth to their children, are in some way traumatized by the experience.

'Listening with the heart' was born as a version of a project that has been operating in the United Kingdom for a few years, the Birth Crisis telephone support network, created by the anthropologist and birth rights activist Sheila Kitzinger.

Its creators see the need to attend to women who, for some reason or another, did not live the birth as they wished and lived it as a bad experience. These women have in common that they encounter loneliness and misunderstanding after childbirth.

For them, may these mothers be heard with the heart In this very delicate and difficult moment of your life it is essential to form a healthy family and therefore a healthy society.

Behind 'Listening with the heart' Isabel Vidal Font, pedagogue, lactation consultant and therapist specialized in the different stages of motherhood and in support of families and Jesusa Ricoy Olariaga, doula, perinatal educator and writer on maternity issues. The latter also collaborates on the telephone support line created by Sheila Kitzinger in the United Kingdom and on the Eduard Punset blog in the psychological support section.

You can contact the Emotional Support Network as of September 25, by talking with volunteers mostly mothers and professionals who give up their time for free. The service will be offered to the entire area of ​​the Iberian Peninsula, Balearic and Canary Islands, and calls will be answered in Spanish and Catalan.

Postpartum depression is one of the most common situations in women who need emotional support, which nevertheless occurs in very different degrees and manifestations that need to be understood and treated. Posttraumatic stress disorder due to childbirth is another consequence that some women may suffer from a bad experience.
