Ingredients for 4-6 people

  • 300 gr of lentils, 1/2 onion, 1 large or two small potatoes, 1 bay leaf, 1 large carrot, 1/2 leek, 3 tablespoons of fried tomato, 1 strip of pork ribs cut into pieces, water or homemade chicken stock to cover

How to make lentils with ribs

Although we are more accustomed to taking the classic lentils with sausage so that the little ones can also try them, we can replace the usual sausage or blood sausage with pork chunks, like the ribs, which will also provide a lot of flavor but will have less fat and although they do not have much meat, they are easy and fun to eat.

To make the recipe, we prepare a stir-fry with the onion, carrot and leek, chopping all in very small pieces to be almost the same size as lentils and do not stand out much in each scoop, so that children do not protest. Once prepared that bottom of vegetables, add the chopped ribs and brown them for a few minutes.

We add the potatoes peeled and cut into medium pieces and the chicken stock in sufficient quantity to cover everything. Remove and add the lentils, setting over medium heat until the broth reaches the boil. When it cooks, we lower the heat to a minimum and let it cook covered for about 40 minutes.
