Early stimulation exercises for your baby from 0 to 6 months

One of the basic needs of the newborn is physical contact. Babies receive their first stimuli through their reference figures (the mother, first, and the father) therefore, it is essential that you take a few minutes a day to play, talk and exercise with your baby.

We are going to recommend some early stimulation exercises for your baby from 0 to 6 months that will help you gain flexibility and strengthen muscle tone, which will prepare you to explore the environment.

It is convenient that you do them at a time of day when the baby is calm and receptive, respecting their feeding and sleeping hours. You can start with five minute sessions and increase time. They should not last more than ten minutes.

0 to 3 months

Even when you are very young, in the first trimester of life you can start doing some gentle exercises that will help you gain mobility, discover new sensations and awaken your first stimuli.

  • Take your hands and feet and play with your fingers, one by one.
  • Perform hand and foot massages
  • Lying on your back, take the soles of your feet and bring your knees to your chest. Repeat 5 times with each leg and gradually increase the frequency.
  • Lying on your back, take your hands and make movements in a circle with your arms.
  • Lying on your back, show him a colored toy at a distance of 30 cm from your eyes and move it from side to side to follow it with your head.
  • Lying on your back, bring the baby's right hand toward the opposite shoulder very gently. Repeat with the left hand. Then cross both arms over the chest.

3 to 6 months

As the baby grows and gains motor skills, to the exercises mentioned above, we will gradually add more complex ones. We can also start exercises upside down so that it is gaining strength in the neck muscles, very little by little and always respecting their willingness to do them.

  • Lying on your back, gently make the movement of the bicycle with your legs.
  • Take your hands and play clapping.
  • Lying on your back, bend one leg while extending the other and help it turn to the side of the extended leg. Do it again with the other leg.
  • Lying on your back, take it from your arms and slowly raise it to the sitting position.
  • Lying baby face down place some toys in front so you try to reach them.
