The beginning and end of life: the moving encounter between a 112-year-old grandfather and a newborn baby

Yesterday the program El Hormiguero has issued a touching encounter between a 112-year-old grandfather and a newborn baby, barely ten days old. A beautiful scene that makes us reflect on the beginning and end of life.

Francisco Nuñez is the second oldest man in the world, according to the Guiness record, while Abril is a newborn girl in the same town where they both live, Welcome, in Badajoz.

When he sees the little girl, Francisco, he looks at her, touches her, talks to her, makes her smile: "If this looks like a blessed golden girl! Oh what I have here! Oh, what beautiful hands!". When asked to give advice to the newborn to do well in life, his words were:

"What you have to have is a big and noble heart and defend yourself from all things," was Francisco's advice for the girl.

The end and the beginning of life

The encounter conveys tremendous tenderness, as well as great teaching. On the one hand, the experience of a person who has lived through everything, including a war, and on the other, the hope of a new life that begins, a story that has just begun to be written.

Grandparents seem to rejuvenate when they are introduced to a baby or a small child. It is, without a doubt, an experience from which both benefit, and it happens in all areas in which grandparents and children interact. The little ones are nourished by the experience and care of the elderly, and the elderly by the energy and innocence of the little ones. For something it is said that children who grow up near their grandparents are happier and on the other hand, that grandparents who care for their grandchildren live longer. A relationship destined to be a success.
