Back to school: 13 crafts for a very original beginning of the course

Summer is coming to an end, which means that some children have returned to class, while for others they will be starting in the next few days. A good idea to start a new school year is to do some crafts that children can take to school and hope to use.

From pens, snack bags and book dividers, we have compiled 13 crafts to personalize and make this school more special.

Pencils

If sewing is easy for you, a nice touch that you can give your children is a personalized pen. We share four very nice tutorials:

Pencil shaped

What better representation of the contents of the bag of useful than one shaped giant pencil. Gwenny Penny shows us how to do one step by step.

Shaped like a kitten

Another option is to make a felt pen, which will allow you to put more details, like this kitten-shaped, which is very cute and perfect for toddlers. You can see the tutorial and download the template to do it in Lia Griffith.

A gluttonous monster

Shiny Happy World shares a tutorial to make this fun pen of a monster that "eats" pencils. Include the pattern to do it.

Of colors

This tutorial is from a handbag but it also works as an option for children who are a little older. An advantage is that you can make it the color combination you want in order to use your children's favorite colors. We have seen it in I speak softly.

Decorated pencils

An easy way to personalize the tools is to decorate the pencils, which usually come in very boring colors or tend to get lost easily because they are all similar.

Write them a sentence

A nice way to decorate the pencils and also give them a special touch, is to paint them and add some positive phrase in them. You will only need some paint and a permanent marker. You can see how to do them in Hello Glow.

Polka dots

Make those boring pencils something fun! These simple colored dots they remind us of the confetti we throw at parties. See the simple step-by-step tutorial in Make and tell.

Adorn them with love

Another way to customize them is put an ornament on top, like these hearts. To do them you will only need felt, thread, needle and a permanent marker to draw the faces. You can see the full tutorial in Kids Activities.

Decorate them with animals and apples

An alternative to the hearts are these cute little animals and apples also made of felt. In this case you will also need silicone or fabric glue to place the mouths and eyes of the animals. We saw them in Lia Griffith.

Snack Bag

A craft that is very practical are snack bags. We share two that we loved.

Denim

These beautiful snack bags are closed with a button and what we liked most is that you can make a different one for each child, thanks to the denim found in a wide range of tones. To do them you can follow the Purl Soho tutorial.

In neutral color

Another option for the elderly may be this gray bag that closes with a leather strap, although you could also use a thin ribbon or ribbon. You can see the tutorial step by step in Pretty Prudent.

Bookmarkers

A small and practical detail is to make bookmarks for your children. This will help them to mark in their books the lesson in which they go or the pages that they have left to do at home. If you have a small reader at home you will surely love it.

For the corners

Book dividers that have become popular in recent years are those that go in the corners of the pages. In Red Ted Art we have found these foxes, but they also have some very cute monsters and owls.

Of his favorite character

A pumpkin and a princess share a tutorial to make a fun separator of the famous Minions How much the little ones like it. With a little creativity we can even substitute colors or add some elements to adapt the design and make other characters.

Sign for the photo of the first day of school

Finally and to commemorate the first day of school, you can make this sign to take the picture of this important moment. To do this you will need a small slate, wooden rulers, felt, glue and gis. You can see the tutorial step by step in Fireflies and mudpies.
