Homemade costumes: paper masks

Carnival is coming and what better idea than to make homemade costumes for our children

Very economical and easy to carry out, the paper masks They allow us endless creative possibilities. You will only need paper bags, cutouts of metallic papers and wool of various colors, cardboard, synthetic glue, a pencil, tempera and brushes.

The procedure is simple: on one side of the bag, with the opening facing down, the details of the face of the chosen character are drawn in pencil: the nose, the eyes, the mouth. Try to make your face look nice and funny; It may be interesting to enlarge the features to exaggerate them and even review the strokes with black paint, because in this way your mask will be more lively and will be useful to highlight its different parts. Then, cut out the mouth (if the bag is large enough you can even cut it on the sides to pass the arms). Pay close attention to the height of the mouth when you cut; It is important that the cuts of the mask match those of the child who will wear it, as they will serve to breathe when you have it on.

Decorating it is simple: you paste the paper cutouts on the face and complete all the details. You can decorate it with wool trimmings as a mustache or hair, put a bow, in short, everything you can think of so that your mask looks better. Finally, paste cardboard on the inside of the bag, one on each front, to keep the mask upright.
