Facilitate the learning of autistic children

According to recent North American studies, so that autistic children learn more easily it is advisable to give simple instructions. Unlike what specialists once believed, who considered that autism affected only the brain regions that control social interaction, language and behavior, new studies indicate that it is not so, but that it is a disorder that It influences all aspects, reasoning, memory, balance, etc.

To reach this conclusion, the specialists analyzed 56 autistic children who had an IQ of 80, this coefficient is located near the average of the population, which is around 100. The children had to solve a series of tests where Some of its aspects were evaluated, such as memory or attention, among others. The tests showed that the simpler the instructions, the better the answers. On the contrary, the more complex the exercise to be performed, the more difficulties they had when answering. The study indicates that complex information and instructions are more difficult to process for the minds of these children and therefore, for a better learning it is preferable to use basic and simple instructions that will favor greater assimilation.

Thanks to the new studies, there is a clearer concept of autism, which in the future can lead to discover the causes that develop it. At the moment it is an achievement that will help these children have the opportunity to improve their learning The studies have been published in the electronic journal Child Neuropsychology.
