The hormones during pregnancy

Many of the changes that the body undergoes during pregnancy are due to the direct action of the hormones. There are four main types of hormones that are responsible for the changes that occur during pregnancy, your action.

The progesterone, originated in the ovaries and in the placenta, it stimulates the thickening of the tissues that surround the uterus preparing it for the implantation of the ovule that has been fertilized, later, this hormone will act preparing the breasts so that they can produce the precious breast milk.

The call pregnancy hormone (human chorionic gonadotropin), is well known because it only occurs during the gestation period and is responsible for maintaining it. The hormone in question is secreted by the placenta and is found in both urine and blood. The presence of this hormone in the urine allows to confirm the pregnancy with the test. Perhaps, a side effect that can cause and is not so graceful, is the relationship it has with morning sickness and vomiting that usually occur during the first trimester of pregnancy.

The placenta also produces a hormone called lactogenic, this has the mission of stimulating the glands that produce breast milk located in the breasts. It also presents another vitally important function, that of ensuring adequate fetal development.

We have left for the end the hormone that starts the whole process, the estrogen. Responsible for female sexual development, in the male organism they are also found but to a lesser extent, aiding in reproductive function. In women it is formed in the ovaries being decisive at the time of conceiving, once the pregnancy has started, the placenta also generates it in order to guarantee a healthy development of pregnancy.
