There are other nursery schools

One is absorbed in his own reality trying to ensure that the children do not lack anything until a stroke of reality like the one that came to me this morning when reading a story in an online newspaper in Ecuador wakes us up with a slap.

There, in a rural area “in the middle of hills full of dust, of the mountain, of rustic electrical installations and lack of basic services, the campus is built”, that is, the children's school made with reeds to which 30 children under five years of age go to school every day.

While some of us look for where they will give them better English, or if they will prioritize the sport, there the requirement to enroll them is to carry a cane, a sheet of zinc or nails and contribute labor to build the walls of the school.

While we take care that they have the necessary teaching materials, there the teacher, who does not receive salary, teaches the children the shape of a circle with a plate brought from their home.

The only work table is an old wooden reel, they do not serve breakfast or lunch, only coffee in water with bread. Nor is a uniform required, barely having shoes and any garment to wear.

The only support they receive from the government is some books. Students get up very early because they have to walk several kilometers to go to school where it is not uncommon for them to fall asleep at recess.

This is the reality of many children who go every day to the improvised rural schools of developing countries.

It is not to feel guilty because our children are lucky to have more than others, it is logical that we want to give them the best; But we are aware that there is another reality and to the extent that we can do something also for the education of these children, just as we care so much for our children.
