The Valencian Community is preparing to improve the infant feeding of the next school year

Although there are still a few months left before the new school year begins, in some Spanish communities they are already starting to work so that when the course begins, some professionals are prepared to combat one of the problems that seriously affect our society, overweight and obesity.

The Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education of Valencia have come together to combat this problem and have published a menu guide for school canteens. This guide reflects the joint work of several professionals from different areas, pediatric, nutrition, psychology, etc. The initiative is the first step of a commitment that advocates the establishment of healthy eating habits in children. 8,000 guides will go to all the pediatric educational centers and services of the Valencian Community. Without a doubt, it is a good first step that could be complemented with a new edition to be distributed among all families, as these professionals will surely know, the first battlefield in which the fight against overweight and obesity must be won It is in the home itself.

Schools can influence, but the actions that take place at home are always more influential and it is precisely in this area that we must emphasize this type of aid. In any case, initiatives of this kind are always welcome, they are a first step to be taken in the work of improving the quality of infant feeding.
