How and when to request the help of 2,500 euros provided by the Spanish government by birth or adoption

Little by little, details about the granting of assistance to families of 2,500 euros per birth or adoption are being outlined (in the case of childbirth or multiple adoption, the aid will be multiplied by the number of children) announced by the President of the Government on last tuesday

We read on the website of the Presidency of the Government, after today's Council of Ministers, that this assistance can be requested from July 15, benefiting all Spanish families or with legal residence in Spain, who have had a baby from 00.00 on Tuesday, July 3.

The economic benefit will be processed as a Bill of Law with urgent procedure to enter into force next November, that is, they can be requested in mid-July but the benefit will not be charged until the end of the year.

To request the 2,500 euros of the new benefit it will only be necessary to fill out a form that will be available in the Treasury offices and in the Social Security offices. They announce that forms may also be accessed through the websites of the Ministries of Economy and Finance and of Labor and Social Affairs. The form of payment is not described, but it could be like the checks of working mothers, through the Social Security offices.

It should also be informed that once the Law enters into force in November, births after this date will receive the benefit the month following the birth. It is also important to know that this aid does not annul or replace any other that is received, be it the 100 euros per month that working mothers receive with children under 3 years of age or those that each autonomous government provides.

The news media consider the possibility that the "baby check of 2,500 euros" may be retroactive for babies born from the beginning of the year, but better not to be illusions.

A fact that alarms us and that does not clarify for the moment the Council of Ministers is that “the new rule will modify the Law on the Income Tax of Physical Persons and the General Law of Social Security,” does not look good, but hopefully Do not withdraw deductions for child or things like that.

Once the new standard has been published in the BOE, all the information in this regard will be available on the website of the General State Administration for the citizen's relationship with the public administration www.060.es.

In Babies and more we will also update the information as it develops.
