Children admitted to La Paz Children's Hospital (Madrid) today received the visit of Queen Doña Sofía thanks to the project of the Carrefour Solidarity Foundation, Dreamworks, the "Paint a Smile" Foundation, the La Paz University Hospital and the Queen Foundation Sofia, "Give a smile to hospitalized children", which began in 2006.
With this project, the pediatric units can be decorated creating an environment that favors the recovery of hospitalized children. We already talked about the Campaign to finance the decoration of the pediatric unit of La Paz Children's Hospital in Babies and more.
A good initiative, but regarding the visit of Doña Sofía, the trade union section of CCOO of the hospital has denounced the precarious service that this center has provided to patients today. It seems that some consultations have been closed, others have worked below half, such as the child surgery service, which planned to serve six children while about fifteen are usually cared for. The same has happened in nephrology, which of the usual fifty have attended about fifteen.
It is really incomprehensible, we did not find an answer to the reason for this action of the Hospital, the union suggests the possibility that they wanted to show the Queen an unreal situation, hiding the enormous volume of consultations that usually moves in hospitals.
What is your opinion? If it were what the union says, what is the point of not showing the large volume of work, even overflowing, which is the most harmful to patients, in this case to children?
