The number of babies born with low weight is doubled; the fault is tobacco and stress

Just yesterday we talked once again about how harmful it is for the baby in gestation the stress the mother suffers.

Among other things, it causes you not to get the amount of nutrients necessary for its development. Stress is one of the causes for which the number of babies born with low weight is increasing.

Today, I hear about a pioneering study conducted at the Maternal and Child Hospital of Zaragoza that states that tobacco and stress that many working mothers suffer they have almost doubled the number of babies born with less weight than they should.

The low weight, is not that only small children are born, but that these children usually present behavioral problems such as lack of attention, are restless and around 23% of them will have difficulties in their intellectual development.

The data was taken based on the births produced in Aragon, but I suppose there won't be much difference with the other communities. Unfortunately, life with stress is a widespread trend.

Compared to data from 15 years ago, today, 5% of the 12,000 children born in Aragon are underweight, that is, about 600, when before it was only 3%.

Tobacco is not to blame anyone but the mother who smokes, so that could be leaving, since they believe that eliminating tobacco, the number of low birth weight would decrease to 50%.

The same is due to the fact that women live more stressed than 15 years ago, that the intense workday is too much for a pregnant woman and this leads us again that future moms should be more protected in the workplace.

Those responsible for the study suggest a measure that all women support, that maternity leave should be extended to the period before birth to lead to a healthier pregnancy. We adhere
