Washing your hands would reduce child deaths three times

A habit as daily on this side of the world as washing your hands could save the lives of 800,000 children every year in Africa.

UNICEF's latest study on The state of childhood in sub-Saharan Africa revealed that one in 6 children does not reach the age of five due to diseases caused by preventable causes, whose prevention has a lot to do with water.

If children had access to drinking water, infant deaths would be reduced by 25% due to diseases such as diarrhea.

That is why the organization has launched awareness programs on water use in some African countries such as Equatorial Guinea where children are taught a series of hygiene measures with the intention that they transfer them to the rest of the family.

A gesture that we find as trivial as opening the tap and running out of drinking water in some countries costs the life of a child every five seconds, either due to lack of water or drinking contaminated water.

It is essential that you reach drinking water in every corner of the planet, both for the health of the children and for their education, since many children do not attend classes because they have the obligation to travel long distances to go in search of water for their family. That is the harsh reality of many African children.
