Goodbye to the baby check in Madrid as we knew it

You will remember that two years ago the Madrid parents received the happy announcement that from January 1, 2007 they would receive a single and direct help of 100 euros for the birth or adoption of a child.

Although the amount was not considerable, at least you could have a small financial aid to meet the first expenses of the newborn. The help has lasted little, exactly 2 years. Right now that we are in crisis we have to say goodbye to the 100 euro baby check as we knew it.

That is to say, it is no longer an aid for all families, but the Community of Madrid will adapt the benefit to make it reach the families that need it most depending on their income and the number of members (large families).

They say it is not a suppression, but a change in the conditions of granting aid, but the truth is that for a lot of Madrid families who expect their first or second child for 2009 is bad news.

At the moment, they are studying how to apply the aid, but in any case, the measure will be retroactive to children born as of January 1, 2009.

At least there is the comfort of the state aid of 2,500 per child and the deductions in the income tax. Hopefully this effect is not contagious.
