Paint with the placenta

It had never occurred to me that the placenta was used as the basis for a work of art, but surfing the web I found numerous pages that show paintings made with the placenta. The idea is surprising, but the results can really be beautiful and serve as a reminder of its nutritional symbolism.

Obviously this can only be done in deliveries in which the woman is allowed to keep this part of her own body that served as food for her child for nine months.

Many cultures give a special meaning to the placenta and today a small part of it remains buried or even ingested. The use of it to make a work of art that reminds us of it is always the first time I heard it. But how do you know paint with the placenta?

The placenta should be frozen after delivery so it doesn't smell. When you decide to make the picture you have to defrost it slowly. You have to put it in a bowl to avoid staining anything with the water that can be released.

A large sheet of good quality paper or cardboard for posters is needed. The placenta is placed leaving the placenta piece up and the cord down, leaving the side of the veins, by which it was attached to the mother's body, on the paper.

You have to leave it tight so that its shape is printed and it can be colored. The shape it leaves is similar to a tree. Once the primer dries, you have to put a plastic sheet on it to avoid rotting by contact with the air. This can be maintained forever.

Well, if any of you decide to paint with the placenta, you will tell us if it has been beautiful.
