A California grandfather creates a Disneyland-inspired theme park in the backyard of his home

Just 15 minutes by car from the Disneyland amusement park in California, is the "Dobbsland" park, a miniature replica that a man named Steve Doobs He has made for his grandchildren in the backyard of his house.

The illusion of this grandfather to realize the dreams of his grandchildren began in 2008 with a modest attraction inspired by the movie Pirates of the Caribbean. But since then, the small theme park has only grown and currently has a capacity of up to 50 people. It will leave you speechless!

Retired Aeronautical Engineer and Disneyland Fan

Steve worked all his life as a Boeing aeronautical engineer, and the fact of having always lived a few minutes from Disneyland Park He made him a big fan. Therefore, the man thought about the possibility of putting into practice his professional knowledge to recreate a simple amusement park for his grandchildren.

And that is how this incredible adventure began, at the time that Doobs retired.

Initially, this grandfather built a first attraction based on the movie Pirates of the Caribbean. For this, he made small wooden boats, which he decorated with paint and cannons, through which the children fired ping pong balls.

After, Doobs inaugurated the attraction of Winnie the Pooh, consisting of a cozy house inhabited by animated stuffed characters, where stories can be heard through a voiceover.

Another of the impressive jewels of this particular amusement park is the Sleeping Beauty's castle, with the characters of Frozen recreating various scenes of the film and other thematic stories.

But without a doubt, the "jewel in the crown" is a roller coaster of adult size and 30 meters long, made of wood and PVC, and capable of reaching 19 km / h. For your design and construction, Steve asked a team of engineering students for help of the Faculty where he currently works as a teacher.

The park is completed with a small cinema with Disney screenings, animated doll shows, impressive lights and fun games inspired by the most endearing characters of the factory.

This grandfather is so proud of his creation that he wants any child to enjoy it, so allows access to "Dobbsland" for free and yields its facilities for the organization of children's parties and birthdays.

"I wanted to show my grandchildren that everything is possible"

In an interview with the Babble newspaper, Steve explained that with the construction of this amusement park, all he wanted was to teach his grandchildren that in life everything is possible if you work hard and dream big.

Saving the distances (because without a doubt, creating such an amusement park in the backyard of your home is somewhat unmatched), Steve's story reminded us of that of other parents who also decided to make their children's dreams come true, with constructions and inventions that left us with their mouths open.

A few years ago we echoed a father who had decided to transform his garden into an ice rink so that his children played sledding. We were also surprised by the huge wooden house that another father, a builder by profession, had created for his daughters.

And others stories that have also taken our admiration They are those focused on parents of children with paralysis or some type of motor difficulty, who decided to overcome all obstacles with large doses of creativity, imagination and love.
