Horse therapy for disabled children

In the Vargas state of Venezuela is carried out an interesting therapy to help children with disabilities, horse therapy. This modality, also known as hippotherapy or equine therapy, which results from the contact of children with horses and outdoor walks.

It is a pilot project of the local Police, aimed at the population with few resources and with diverse disabilities, such as paralysis, spina bifida, Down syndrome or autism. Among the benefits of equine therapy are the improvement of muscle tone or the socialization of children in their contact with monitors and other children.

Children appear delighted, as do their parents who ask that the project has continuity and support. These types of activities are usually carried out in centers specializing in people with disabilities, but the novelty, and example to follow, is that it is a public entity that takes care of this care, thus reaching a larger population sector.

It would be great if the initiative for care and therapy for children was integrated as a regular program in municipalities and other public entities to give these disabled children the possibility of obtaining their benefits.

Personally, I think that contact with animals and with nature in general can do a lot of good for all people, so this type of therapy that focuses its attention on those who need it most, be it with horses, with sea lions, with dolphins ...
