The withdrawal of the baby check on January 1 of this year was bad news for all Spanish fathers and mothers, who have seen the state turn its back on birth. However, it has brought something positive for all pregnant women: the questioning about the programmed labor inductions.
Nothing had ever happened. Many mothers complained that they had had an induced or scheduled birth without much meaning and information and there was not much public response from official agencies.
He had to put the handle of the pan on the other side of the table, moving from the obstetricians to the mothers, they were the ones who were starting to request a scheduled delivery to collect the baby check, so that all the alarms went off and began to start declare that the best thing is that the delivery arrives spontaneously.
The stir was such that the news spread even on television. On Telemadrid, for example, they came to say that “If your gynecologist wants to induce labor because it is Friday, change gynecologist“.
The advice is fabulous because it does not make much sense that a professional who must ensure that a delivery goes as well as possible, minimizing risks and trying to intervene little so that what is a natural process takes its course, opt for the totally opposite path, schedule a birth, induce it artificially and risk ending in caesarean section (or worse).
Now, it will be difficult for women to follow this advice because the ones who usually schedule births are the doctors who work in private healthcare and some of the mothers who come seem to have the same (few) scruples that the professionals who attend them.
I still remember a well-known model who explained very happy that for her last daughter she decided to schedule the birth because it was a pleasure to leave the children in school and with all the calm of the world go to give birth. And like her, some mothers who prefer to give birth to week 38 to save a few grams "because in total, the last month all she does is gain weight" and thus be able to have an enviable figure almost at the time of giving birth.
