Nurseries at work

Experience seems to show that almost everyone working parents value the opening of daycare centers in a very positive way, for the peace of mind of knowing that your child is close, and for the time savings this entails.

When I see news of companies that set up daycare centers for their workers in their workplace, I wonder how that could affect the number of casualties, leave of absence, reductions or children who go to daycare.

And what is clearer to me and thus follows from the experiences with childcare at work is that children would be less hours without their parents and parents, calmer. Impossible quadrants will probably go down in history to see who arrives at the nursery before leaving the baby and still has time to get to work.

Yes some companies have launched to open daycare centers for the children of their workers, it's because for them it also means benefits.

Although perhaps they should consider whether it would not be more beneficial to offer flexible schedules (along with other measures that help workers reconcile work and family life).

I don't like the option to be: either you take it to daycare and you work or you take care of it and you don't work. I think there are multiple combinations, and that daycare in the company can be a valuable help for those mothers and fathers who decide to work.

I vote for childcare at work

I do not work in a company but in an educational center, but sometimes colleagues have commented how good a “nursery” could work for us, especially the days of evaluations, meetings, or in June when the school is over (not the activities in the institute).

In fact, who else who least takes the children to the institute and there we take turns as you can to be with them. I would certainly have appreciated many times that there was a daycare center in my workplace, even though it would not have meant a return to work.

For example, this course is part-time and my little daughter is taken care of by the whole family in the morning. But if the grandparents go on a trip, we need help on Mondays and Fridays. This meant many turns and headaches and transfers and phone calls to get a suitable place for the little girl to stay. A few hours, Monday and Friday. And all this knowing of this need in advance, with which we had time to organize.

With a nursery at work, everything would have been much simpler, in fact I think if I had it, my daughter would come with me many days, the grandparents would rest and I could be with her in my spare hours or at recess.

Nurseries at work, and much more

Of course, it is not an exclusive measure for conciliation, and there are many others that we claim as time flexibility, paid leave for urgent personal circumstances, margin for telecommuting ... Experience seems to show that, better reconciliation conditions, better work performance, and this is not only achieved with a measure.

We do not have to be slaves of our work, beg for what the system leaves us to reconcile, but demand more measures that make possible and real that women, equally with men, can work and take care of our families in an acceptable way.

And for that, obviously, Daycare is not a universal solution (but better than nothing, in my opinion). Yes I think it would mean a very valuable help for many fathers and mothers who have returned to work, so that the children are closer and less time in the nursery.

It is not about asking: nursery yes-nursery no, together with work yes-work no. A duality that, by the way, only seems to affect women, which means that, until this does not change, they remain “second-rate” workers.

Why not turn it over and look for better quality in the circumstances? Do you think that nurseries at work Would they make more mothers "stop caring" for their children and return to work? If they want or need to return to work, isn't it good that they have this option?
