Belly button piercing

Piercings or piercings for earrings are increasingly common in our society, even if it is an ancient custom. Ears, eyebrows, lips, nose, navels and other less visible places are the places chosen for them. But, What about a belly button piercing of the pregnant woman?

We already saw that the belly during pregnancy can have many forms, but what is common to all the guts is that they increase in size. That growth causes the skin to stretch, and if the piercing is small it can pull the skin.

Probably because of the discomfort that the woman feels when she feels her skin tight, she decides to remove the piercing. Changing it for a larger one, or using specific piercing systems for pregnant women with extenders, could be a solution. We cannot claim to wear a one centimeter piercing in the navel when it has enlarged and measures two.

However, other considerations about belly button piercings during pregnancy.

And it is also that, as the navel is an especially delicate area in that it is a hole with folds in which dead cells and microorganisms can be deposited, it is necessary to take good hygiene of it. Having a belly button piercing during pregnancy requires a lot of hygienic care to avoid the risks of an infection.

Thus, the pregnant woman with piercing should maintain a good navel cleaning routine and at the first symptom of irritation visit the dermatologist and if necessary remove the piercing. It is necessary to avoid as far as possible that the piercing rubs with the clothes, which is quite complicated when the gut already has a considerable volume, to avoid unexpected pulls or slips and strong rubs.

If as the belly grows stretch marks appear on the skin of the gut by stretching the area It is recommended to remove the earring, since the scar can produce a keloid, an enlarged scar or more marked stretch marks just in the piercing holes.

What if the piercing hole is closed?

I am sure that someone who has made a hole in the navel to carry a piercing will have no problem in doing it again later. And more because in theory it will be less painful, having already done a perforation previously in the same place.

If the piercing is recent, it may not have healed and then it will close easily when removed, but if it has been a year since we took it, then it is harder to close in a few months (It will depend on the specific characteristics of each person, it can heal much sooner, but this time is usually indicated as usual for the good healing of the navel piercing).

Although it seems that the hole where you were wearing the ornament has closed, it may be that when you try to reposition it after having given birth you prove that it is not so. Do it carefully, anyway, even going to the professionals who did it to you to try to put it back without having to drill again.

However, let's not fool ourselves, we probably want to give the gut and the skin some time to recover some firmness after delivery.

I am not very fond of piercings apart from the typical ones that I wear in my ears, and I think that a piercing in my navel during pregnancy would have given me the impression that I wanted to escape and shoot out of the giant and tight gut, with a belly button almost disappeared. Come on, I would have taken it from me just for not seeing it so tight.

Other myths related to belly button piercing, as it can harm the baby, pierce the uterus or make the umbilical cord catch on it are obviously false.
