'With a book under his arm', book and gift CD for the newborn at the Prince of Asturias Hospital

He Prince of Asturias University Hospital from Alcalá de Henares, has launched the initiative 'With a book under his arm', with the aim of promoting reading from birth to improve the cognitive and affective development of the child, both through reading and through music and with the active collaboration of parents.

All babies born in the hospital will receive book of cloth, in English and Spanish, and a CD of music made specifically for the first months of life, with fragments of classics such as the "Nutcracker", "Swan Lake" by Tchaikovsky or "The Magic Flute" by Mozart.

Of course, it is a much more useful gift than others that we can find in the baskets for newborns, and to which the children will surely take advantage.

The Prince of Asturias Hospital is the first center of the public network of the Community of Madrid to launch a similar initiative but due to the good acceptance it has had, the project will be extended to other health centers in the region.

When the child is discharged, the parents are given a coupon to collect the gift of the book and the CD at the Caja Madrid Social Work Library in Alcalá de Henares.
