Every year a toy of those appears that without knowing very well why (or yes) it becomes the favorite of the boys or girls making parents and grandparents have a really bad time trying to find it in stores.
If a few years ago the Mickey Mouse House sold out to the point of being sold via ebay for hundreds of euros, this year it seems that it's up to the dolls "Monster High", based on a popular television series, which have turned out to be girls' favorites.
Last year there were already supply problems, but the matter was not too scandalous because the series was not yet too well known. This year, the adventures of the teenage daughters of Dracula, Frankenstein, the Werewolf and company (I did not know that such fathers could reproduce) have reached many more girls and, as a consequence, sales have been abysmal, so much, that "Monster High" dolls are already sold out (and for sale in ebay, Sure).
Who was going to tell me a month ago, when I came across a huge shelf of "Monster High" dolls in Toys "R" Us and I had some in my hands as a possible gift for my niece, who was before what would be the Great success this Christmas. Yesterday I went back to this store and there was no sign of these dolls, just some accessories that, obviously, few girls want.
Minutes later we passed another great toy store, Drim, a well-known toy chain in Catalonia, and we saw in the section of these dolls a sign that said "to be able to meet the requests of all customers you can only acquire two Monster High dolls per person and day ", although there was only one pack in which two dolls came together and little else.
After these two experiences of someone (me) who does not look for them because nobody in my house has asked for them, I have taken a walk through ebay, to see what the quotation of the divine dolls of death is (another thing not, but the phrase "divine of death", they say it in the ads until you end up catching up to mania, hey), and the current price is between 30 and 60 euros, depending on the doll, because as in any series worth its salt, the protagonists are always more successful.
If this is what is happening today, there are still almost 20 days left until Christmas Day and one month for Reyes, or new units arrive at stores and shops, which I doubt, or the one that has achieved One and decide to resell it will be made of gold (and many parents will have to wind their brains to explain to their daughters that Santa Claus or the Kings have not been able to bring him their favorite doll).
