Christmas recipes to make with children: Christmas tree made of french fries

On this occasion, more than a recipe I want to show you a craft and a way to present a recipe, since we are going to build a Christmas tree made of french fries that the children will love and in whose elaboration they will help us. My advice is to make some extra potatoes because they will surely eat some while they form it.

We already know that one of the things that all children like to eat the most is french fries, but with this way of presenting them they are going to have a lot of fun by participating forming the tree and then when decorating it with the balls made with ketchup.

Ingredients for 1 Christmas tree

  • 3 large potatoes, a long skewer, extra virgin olive oil, salt and tomato ketchup

How to make a Christmas tree made of french fries

The first part of the recipe is an adult thing. You have to peel the potatoes and chop them on sticks being careful to cut them of various sizes. Some longer for the base of the tree, others medium for the intermediate zone and others shorter for the top.

Sprinkle the salt potatoes and the fry in plenty of oil without browning excessively. We drain the potatoes when they are in an absorbent paper and begin to work with the help of the little ones. The first thing is to classify potatoes by sizes.

We puncture the skewer on a piece of cork or poliexpan and start to string the potatoes at one end, starting with the longest. Each time we insert a potato we turn to form a kind of spiral so that the tree is formed with potatoes that point in all directions.

Finally, we cover the tip of the skewer with a potato placed vertically and we will only need decorate the tips of some of the potatoes with ketchup pretending they were decorative red balls. The easiest is to dip a potato in Ketchup sauce and spread it on the ends we want from the tree.

Tasting

Normally, when we want to eat the Christmas tree made of french fries, this is cold and not very appealing, but surely in the process of making children will have enjoyed and eaten beautiful. Better to have some sandwiches or mini-hamburgers ready to be eaten at the end of work.
