The usual stories deserve a second chance: get to know the project "Once Upon a Time"

At home we like literature and children read all kinds of children's books since ..., good for a long time. We always have some place for classic stories, but especially for those who make you laugh tears, like "Bremen's musicians." There are many books that tell family misfortunes, or that offer stereotypes of people not at all educational; in others children are mistreated, or the idea persists that fathers and mothers do not paint anything, because there will already be other people who raise or educate the little protagonists for them.

I know that literature responds (among other things) to society at the time books are written, but sometimes we must read between the lines or interpret. That's why I like it a lot Bethlehem and Paul's initiative to self-publish "Once Upon a Time", through a crowfundig project in Verkami.

From what I have read the concerns that arose when reading at night to his eldest daughter, they are quite similar to those that have been raised in my family. My son asked me when I was a (almost) four-year-old baby if the wolves were bad, and the little girl said why is it the prince who always chooses his girlfriends
"Well, you're right honey, that's why I want to tell you that when you grow up you will be the one you choose a boy that you like and respect you, that makes you laugh and comforts you when you're sad, that fills your stomach with butterflies when kissing you, and be happy with your achievements. " Because the blue princes don't exist, and you can be a princess with jeans and slippers, to take charge of her life. "

The question (and returning to the project of Bethlehem and Pablo), is that by force of skipping parts of the stories, changing endings and covering illustrations, they decided that it was time to rewrite the classic stories, so that they would be much more fun, magical, co-educational ... and surely more friendly.

We have respected the magic of stories, fantasy and their timelessness; and that is why "Little Red Riding Hood", "Snow White" and "Cinderella" will now be 'different'

Nacho de Marcos is responsible for some Beautiful, simple, suggestive and perfect illustrations for textHe is also a father and dream artist. 'No one better than him to shape and color our stories.'

Now Pablo and Belén are already parents of two, and also creators of the Cuatro Tuercas studio, and of the Prepapá brand. They tell us that their children inspire them to want to make this world a fairer, equal, co-responsible and free place. They have endorsed the inspiring phrase of Margaret Mead 'Never doubt the ability of a small group of people committed to change the world'.

And all this that I have told you, should be enough to encouraged to know a little more their project, and why not ?, to help them finance it. The patrons will receive (according to the financial contribution: between five and 500 euros) gifts such as illustrated shoulder bags, complete packs, the book, bookmarks, and even the possibility that an illustration is inspired by your photo. Do you cheer up?

I wish you many successes and I know that you will be able to edit "Once upon a time", because there are many fathers and many mothers, who would like to read their children, classic tales that have been stripped of sexism, violence and inequality. In addition to me in particular, I would like to find stories in which perhaps the wolves are again the beautiful and protective animals with their own that they are, and the witches, very wise women, who are worth listening to.
