Non-sexist and non-violent toys: to contribute to the development of attitudes of cooperation and respect for differences

I bring you the Decalogue to choose non-sexist and non-violent games and toys, which can guide Santa Claus and the Magi in the purchase of gifts for children. It is part of a campaign carried out annually by the Andalusian Women's Institute and contains very clear and direct advice.

The bell It aims to raise awareness of the need to eliminate certain contents of games and toys, in order to contribute to the development of attitudes and behaviors of cooperation, respect for differences, and equal relations between girls and boys.

I like the Decalogue a lot because I think it is drafted sensibly, and it is also not directive

In addition, from the mentioned Institution, recommend selecting toys according to the age of the girl or boy. Also read carefully labels with instructions on safety, assembly, use and suggestions to check the operation, before putting it in the hands of the children. Finally, it is suggested to choose toys that respect the environment (for example manufactured in noble materials, that do not use batteries, etc.).

I leave you with the Decalogue that includes points like 'there are no colors for boys or girls: let's choose the colors, without letting them choose us'; or "let's choose toys that bring together girls and boys cooperating and sharing spaces, both public and domestic." And with my recommendation that we also listen to children's preferences, before deciding, and not to rationalize excessively (except in regarding the budget that we allocate for the purchase of games and toys).
