Cesarean section on video, step by step

My first child born by caesarean section. I had seen videos of vaginal births and at Jon's birth I could not be present. They didn't let me, so I missed it.

Some time ago, for that of "knowing how it was", I found with this video that I put you below in which I could see, step by step, a caesarean section. For a while I doubted whether to share it with all the readers of Babies and more, but I find it very interesting that, just as we have shared births, it can also be seen how is a caesarean section.

The video is a summary of the scientific evidence collected by WHO that aims to perform the intervention in the safest way and obtaining the best possible recovery, so a voiceover explains us step by step why it is done as it is It does and what are the steps to follow to make a C-section.

As a father and nurse I think it's a really interesting video, although I notice that the images may hurt the sensitivity of some people. Let's not forget that a C-section is a major surgical intervention.

Is it really the best option?

I want to take advantage of the publication of this video to comment again that caesarean section is a solution to a problem, a relatively urgent intervention that is performed because vaginal delivery is dangerous for some reason. That is to say, It is not an option, mothers should not be able to choose to give birth by caesarean section.

For a bad practice, for comfort or because doing a C-section gives more economic benefits, in many countries of America a very large number of C-sections are performed. To get so many women to be allowed to do so many caesarean sections, many "professionals" have been lying for a while and explaining to the women that they can choose, that they should choose and that the best option is caesarean section. They are told that the baby does not suffer like this, that the recovery is very similar, or even better than that of a vaginal delivery (which destroys your genitals) and that it is the ideal method.

But, as we have explained on more than one occasion, it is not. Just watch the video to realize how aggressive a cesarean is for a woman and that the risks are obviously greater. But the risks are also greater for the baby, although it may not seem so. Is that if it were better, the children would be born by the belly.

In any case, the information is power, and the video helps us to know what the C-section is like, what they do next and why everything is done as it is done. You will tell what you think (if you have come to see it).
