The mother of a premature baby shares her daughter's incredible change three months after she was born

When a couple's baby arrives in the world sooner than expected, everything wobbles around. Many fears and doubts arise before that premature birth, and day by day it becomes a obstacle course for these little warriors.

And so it is for little Grace, a British baby who was born in the 23rd week of gestation, and whose evolution is being documented with photographs and videos on his mother's Instagram account: a moving journey through images through the life of this great fighter.

Grace's story

When at the end of October last year, Mary Parkinson announced her pregnancy on her Instagram account, she never imagined that just three months later she would be sharing the news of the birth of her premature baby, with 23 weeks of gestation.

Grace came to the world on New Year's Eve with just half a kilo of weight, and since then it has not stopped fighting to survive. His progress, and the overwhelming force he demonstrates is documented with videos and photos that his parents share on social networks.

It all started with the announcement of the birth of his daughter, and has continued with viral videos in which his parents show important milestones in their development, such as the first time he opened his eyes or his first spontaneous smiles. They have also documented the first skin-to-skin contact and the medical care you receive daily, and thanks to which it is evolving and improving little by little.

But if there is a photograph that has impacted and excited us all, it is what Mary shared a few days ago on the third birthday of your little girl. In it you can see the incredible evolution that Grace has experienced in these three months, thanks to the medical care and unconditional delivery of her parents:

The picture immediately went viral and has given us all a lesson in life, strength and hope, especially to the families of great premature babies, whose babies are now fighting as Grace is doing.

The great premature

Given that a full-term pregnancy has 40 weeks of gestation, premature birth is one that occurs before week 37, and specifically at born between weeks 22 and 28 are called "great premature babies".

According to the WHO, 15 million premature babies are born in the world but the good news is that thanks to advances and medical care and technological more and more are those who succeed.

Doctors place the limit of viability in the 23 weeks gestation and 400 grams of weight, although from here we have shared stories of extremely premature babies who have come forward before this gestational age and against all medical prognosis.

And luckily, there is more and more news that comes from small fighters who still coming to the world ahead of time, cling to life with strength and determination, giving us all a great lesson of hope.
