Chocolate mice, funny recipe for Halloween

Surely the most cheese makers - and we are a few around here - will have been horrified to see these mice approaching the holes of the Emmental cheese, but they have seemed very tender and appetizing to me. As Halloween approaches and we are always looking for fun ideas for children's parties, I have been encouraged to teach you how to prepare these delicious chocolate mice for Halloween.

It is a very simple recipe, or rather an ideal craft to entertain the smallest of the house, since its preparation does not require cooking or baking but rather simple techniques to have a good time.

Ingredients to make 8 mice

  • 50 g of milk chocolate, 300 g of Oreo cookies or similar, 100 ml of crême frâiche or thick cream, almonds, sugar balls and black licorice for decoration

How to make chocolate mice

Crush the Oreo cookies and reserve a third of the resulting crumbs, putting the other two thirds in a bowl. Melt the chocolate melting it for a minute in the microwave, and add the crême fràiche. Once mixed, add the mixture on the crumbs of Oreo and stir until a uniform dough is left. In the photos of the collage you will see it clearly.

Let the mixture cool in the fridge for an hour before shaping it. When hardened, form small balls and then, sliding them on the table, give them the shape of the mice's body. Cover the mice as if you were breading with the Oreo crumbs that you had reserved.

Finish forming the mice by decorating them with rolled almonds to make the ears, licorice for the tail and anise balls or sugar candy to make the eyes. You can also use how I made pistachio husks for the ears. Let stand for two hours in the fridge so they are hard and do not fall apart.
