Let's make fun toys

In Babies and more we talk very seriously about the importance of play in childhood as a way of learning. The game is one of the most intense childhood experiences. The child's life is game, and so it should be. In addition to entertaining them, it contributes to enhance their physical, intellectual, emotional and social development.

I also consider it interesting to convey to our children that for fun we don't need supermodern and expensive toys, but with very simple materials we can make fun toys with our own hands.

I found a great initiative promoted by Unicef Colombia called Let's make fun toys. It is a downloadable pdf document so that parents and children build toys with items we find at home like a cardboard box or a plastic bottle.

It is surprising to discover that more than 40 different toys can be manufactured, from a kite to a cart or a boat. The step-by-step instructions appear in the pdf indicating what we need to manufacture them and how we should do it.

Although they may seem very simple, the important thing is to spend some time with the children while encouraging their creativity and imagination.
