According to the latest studies, Spain It is one of the countries where the relationship between children and grandparents is considered closer. Although also the parents of these children, 68% of them, seem to be worried because this relationship is still used different educational schemes than those that existed when they were the parents. I think it's great that grandparents have a good relationship with their grandchildren and of course what I don't wait as a father is that be they who educate the children. They have enough grandparents to share their time with grandchildren, probably losing another leisure time they could enjoy.
What I like about today's grandparents, who today celebrate the Grandparent's Day is that, apparently, they have fun with their grandchildren and especially learn things with them. For example, the Imaginarium study (I couldn't find the link) indicates that technology is bringing grandchildren and grandparents together by sharing experiences and learning new things. Although the grandparents learned with other toys and with more creativity, surely in the street, technology brings them closer to their grandchildren and allows them to access other sources of information and leisure. What the study also explains is that fathers and mothers value as a great help the extraordinary collaboration of the grandparents in the attention, care and entertainment of the kids. And I think that is what we have to thank, not only today but all year.
Grandparents have now become the children's first playmates, since they are in charge of taking care of them during their first years of life and 80% of Spanish grandparents play with their grandchildren every day. And is that, the extension of professional schedules, the lack of siblings to play with and the greater life expectancy are some of the factors that make grandparents the new playmates of the kids.
